Starling Straw

I was contacted this month by a local resident who had found a photo that she took of a bag of straw that she had collected up from her back door in 1990. This straw was dropped by the starlings when building their nests

She and her partner were always fascinated by the amount of straw that was dropped every day during the nesting season! That's a lot of work for a pair of starlings.
